Beat the Heat Indoors

When temperatures get too high, your best bet is to seek shelter indoors. If you have an air conditioner, make sure it’s plugged directly into an outlet, to avoid any fire hazards. Avoid overlanding a circuit with “octopus outlets.”

Keep in mind that hot weather in the summer can sometimes lead to power outages. When the electricity is off, take extra care when using alternative lighting, cooking, and heating equipment. To reduce fire risk, use flashlights or battery-operated lanterns instead of candles at night.
