Celebrating Black History Month

February has taken on special significance in Canada over the past 20 years as we’ve been using it to highlight Black History since 1995. Each year, the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa is proud to support events and exhibits scheduled for Black History Month, inviting our staff members to explore and celebrate the heritage, traditions and culture of African-Canadians. We are using this opportunity to inform staff and visitors, through daily historical facts emails, lunch hour short films sessions and posters put up around the building, highlighting the accomplishments of prominent black Canadians in an effort to promote knowledge and understanding of our collective history.
