Launch of I Am Your Children's Aid Campaign

On the October Campaign...

October is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month in Ontario. The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa will be holding its annual awareness campaign.

This year the campaign is called I Am Your Children’s Aid and uses storytelling to bring awareness to everyone’s responsibility in protecting children and youth from abuse and neglect. As in the previous 10 years, the campaign uses a symbol of a Purple Ribbon. The campaign is held every year in many communities across Ontario during the month of October.

The City of Ottawa is once again supporting this very important campaign and will be declaring Friday, October 1, 2010 as Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Day.
On Child Abuse and Neglect…

On any given day, there are more than 6,000 families in Ottawa receiving support  from the CAS. Many of these families are struggling with mental health, domestic violence, and addictions, making parenting extremely challenging and often times, impossible.  For some, the cycle of abuse has continued across generations.

In Ottawa, the CAS exists to protect the children and youth of your community from all forms of abuse and neglect, but they cannot do it alone. The well-being of children, youth and families is essential to the quality of life in our community, and must be considered a community responsibility.
