Staying Cool in the Pool

2016_swimming_safety-small

Drowning is the leading cause of injury death for young children. However, drowning deaths are preventable. Following these guidelines is essential to maintaining your child’s safety when in or around the water:

-       Always supervise children when in or around water. No exceptions;

-       Always keep children within arms’ reach;

-       Make sure children and weaker swimmers wear lifejackets or personal flotation devices in boats and around the water;

-       Swimming lessons are a great way to ensure that kids know how to swim, making them that much safer when playing in the water;

-       Any home pools should have a fence surrounding the body of water, to prevent young kids from accidentally falling in.
